240sx S-Chassis Drift Setup
I was very interested in setting up my S13 similar to how Meihan drivers have their car setup. I was really interested in getting snappy entries and from what I have found online, and people have told me, this is the ideal alignment and car setup for s-chassis.
Steering
- B Knuckle (https://www.heat-maker.com/product/bknuckle)
- Stock S14 FLCA (Not Extended)
- S14 Stock Outer Tie Rod
- PBM Inner Tie Rod (rack spacers already built in)
- S13 Ball Joint (This is only needed if you get S13 knuckles and you are using the S14 FLCA)
- Do not relocate your rack
Wheels
Front
- Front Wheels 17x9j +12 235/40 tires. Taller tires will rub the firewall/front bumper.
- 2" of spacers in the front
Rear
- Rear Wheels 18x9.5j +22 265 tires
- Might need spacers to get good fitment
Suspension
- Coilovers (Feel it out, but softer damper setting is generally better) I do a few clicks up in the rear and full soft in the front.
- Reverse Rake. Set ride height where the rear is squatting a little compared to the front when sitting on flat ground.
- Make sure your wheels don't hit anything!
- If your car is too low it will cause you to overcenter when at larger lock. Raise your front if your are overcentering and your steering is binding at lock. Here is a good article that talks about binding with steering, there are many ways to solve this but raising the front of the car has benefits outside of preventing steering as well, so if you raise the front of your car you kill two birds with one stone and don't have to buy anything extra :)
- 9k swift front springs, 5k rear
- Stock front sway bar
Alignment Settings
- -7* front camber
- 0 front toe out (maybe a little bit if you want 3-5mm out. 0 for street so the inside of your tires don't wear out. Meihan people run 3-5mm )
- 0* rear toe
- 0.5* rear camber
Other
- Keep stock bushings. (Squish-iness is helpful in the rain to get grip)
