- 7.3L Power Stroke Turbo V8 Diesel
This entry covers the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel; the 7.3L gasoline engine in later Super Duty trucks uses a separate setup.
A loaded F-250 benefits from a clear view of engine heat on a long grade. Oil monitoring is especially useful when planning a diesel setup.
What to monitor on this engine
Coolant temperature and RPM are practical first readings for this engine. Add intake-air temperature for a view of intake heat under repeated load. If you display pressure, keep absolute manifold pressure distinct from boost relative to atmosphere.
Installation approach
A dedicated bracket should leave trailer-brake and light-switch controls accessible; secure the harness against vibration from heavy-duty use. Fit the mount from your normal seating position before fixing it in place.
Connect the OBD-II adapter at the vehicle diagnostic connector and secure its cable along fixed trim. Leave the connector accessible for servicing. Follow the Flock user manual for gauge power, adapter setup and wired-sensor connections.
OBD-II and wired readings
Choose standard OBD-II readings such as coolant temperature, RPM, intake-air temperature and vehicle speed in the gauge menu. Use wired sensors when you want an independent oil-temperature, oil-pressure or boost measurement.
Configure your gauge
The gauge displays whole-number OBD readings. For temperature definitions labeled C, use the gauge’s temperature preference to choose Celsius or Fahrenheit.
